Retreats

Solace retreats are an opportunity to come away and enjoy new restful rhythms of silence, stillness and space.

The world slows down from its usual blur to a pace much more conducive to meeting ourselves and God afresh. We provide resources to help you think, feel, process and pray, and leave plenty of room for you and God to go deeper. Solace retreats are long or short, silent or not, in your church or at a retreat centre.

What kind of things happen at a Solace retreat?

What’s involved

Stillness

Stillness is the antidote to busyness. It’s not easy, but it’s an important aspect of knowing God and being known. Stillness is the ultimate push-back to the pressure to constantly be productive.

Silence

Silence is more than the absence of noise. It’s an opening. It creates room to listen to our inner voice, to the divine and to what we often miss in the noise of daily life.

Solitude

Solitude frees us from expectation and performance. It invites us to be fully ourselves, to rest, to wrestle, to reflect. It’s a threshold of transformation for our lives.

“Why is it so important that you are with God and God alone? It’s important because it’s the place in which you can listen to the voice of the One who calls you the beloved.”

– Henri Nouwen
